How to Make a Table by Dave Kilgore

  1. Slabbing or milling process

  2. Stack for air drying (Air dry time from 1 month to 18 months)

  3. Kiln dry (some people skip this step but it is important for killing bugs and so the furniture doesn’t warp when it’s in air conditioning. If the moisture in the wood is too high It will ruin.)

  4. Planing and sizing the boards. (This is taking it from rough cut to ready to sand surface)

  5. Assemble the table top with glue and screws. Using clamps, and the Kreg screw system.

  6. Cut to length the legs using 4 ends of slabs.

  7. Assemble the legs using same system as above

  8. Measure and put in braces for attaching the legs.

  9. Cut out center braces, that will brace legs to table top to keep legs at 90 degrees

  10. Drill out bolt holes for attaching the legs to the braces.

  11. AND WITH ALL THE SCREW HOLES THEY ARE PEGGED AND SANDED SMOOTH.

  12. Fill smaller cracks and holes with wood putty
